Wootton Bassett, Sea The Stars, Camelot and Churchill sire new stakes winners

21 for Wootton Bassett
In winning Saturday's Roses Stakes (Listed, 5f) at York, the Karl Burke-trained Attagirl (2 f ex Catalina Bay by Pastoral Pursuits) became the 21st stakes winner for Coolmore Australia shuttler Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj). Royal Patronage became stakes winner number 20 for the sire earlier in the week when he won the Acomb Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at York and the son of Iffraaj (Zafonic) has now sired ten juvenile stakes winners and four Group One winners in Almanzor, Audarya, Wooded and Incarville. Wootton Bassett will stand his first season in Australia this year for a fee of $71,500 (inc GST). 

 

82 for Sea The Stars
Reach For The Moon (2 c ex Golden Stream by Sadler’s Wells), who was bred and is raced by The Queen), won Saturday’s Solario Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Sandown to provide his sire, Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) with his 82nd stakes winner. The sire of 14 Group One winners, Sea The Stars is based at Gilltown Stud in Ireland where his 2021 fee was set at €150,000 for the second consecutive year. 

 

40 for Camelot
Yesyes (3 f ex Shared Account by Dansili) won Saturday’s Chester Stakes (Listed, 1m6.5f) at Chester, providing her Coolmore Stud-based sire Camelot (Montjeu) with stakes winner number 40.  In Australia Camelot has sired 61 winners from 80 runners including Group One winners Sir Dragonet and Russian Camelot, who is standing his first season at Widden’s Victorian farm this year. 

 

Two for Churchill
Coolmore Australia shuttler Churchill (Galileo) sired stakes winner number two when Vadeni (2 c ex Vaderana by Monsun) remained unbeaten in Saturday’s Criterium du Fonds Europeen de l’Elevage (Listed, 1600m) at Deauville. Churchill has sired 14 winners so far in his first European crop with Ladies Church his other stakes winner. His fee this year is set at $22,000 (inc GST).
