Yarraman Park's Hellbent (I Am Invincible) notched up yet another winner when Tantrums (2 f ex Layo Layo by Encosta De Lago) won over 800 metres on debut at Hastings on Thursday. The filly became the 12th winner for her sire and is the eighth winner for Hellbent this month.

Owned by Stanton Thoroughbreds, the Simon and Katrina Alexander-trained Tantrums scored a one and a quarter length victory over Written Up (Wrote) with The Divinier (Darci Brahma) over five lengths back in third.

Bred in Australia by Dr Richard McClenahan, who also bred Hellbent, Tantrums was bought for $15,000 by Stanton Thoroughbreds during the Inglis Digital March (Early) Sale last year. She is the first foal out of Layo Layo and is from the family of Away Game (Snitzel).

Tantrums was Hellbent's first runner in New Zealand and following his flurry of winners, Hellbent now sits second in the leading first season sires table by winners in Australia behind Russian Revolution (Snitzel) who, to date, has sired 14 winners in his first crop in Australia.

Hellbent covered 154 mares in 2020 before seeing 148 mares last year and his 2022 fee remains at $22,000 (inc GST) for the third consecutive year.
