Tattersalls has announced that five lots have been catalogued for their inaugural Tattersalls Online Sale which will be held on the eve of Royal Ascot. Bidding will start at midday (BST) on Saturday June 13 and conclude at midday on Monday June 15.

Entries are headed by the Mark Johnston-trained Group 3 winner West End Girl (Golden Horn) who holds an entry in the Ribblesdale Stakes (Gr 2, 1m4f) next Tuesday. She also holds an entry for next month’s Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f).

Owned by Alan Spence, West End Girl has won two of her six starts to date headed by the Sweet Solera Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Newmarket. Bought by her trainer for 95,000gns at Book 2 of the 2018 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale the daughter of Golden Horn (Cape Cross) is out of the winning mare Free Rein (Dansili) who is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Reckless Abandon (Exchange Rate).

Further back this is the family of Group 1 winners Brando (Pivotal) and Ticker Tape (Royal Applause).

“West End Girl is a very smart and very well-bred filly who has a big future ahead of her,” said Spence. “It was always the intention to sell her at the end of the year, but when we heard about the Tattersalls Online sale we felt it was the perfect platform for a filly with her credentials.

“She is not just a Ribblesdale prospect, she could also head for the Oaks and being a proven Group winner on good to firm ground makes her very attractive to buyers from throughout the world, all of whom I am sure will be impressed by the Tattersalls Online platform."

The additional lots include two-year-olds colt aiming for Royal Ascot in Igotatext (Ajaya), who is being aimed at the Coventry Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) and the Windsor Castle Stakes (Listed, 5f) bound  Muker (Mehmas). Entries are completed by Star Of Emaraaty (Pride Of Dubai) who is being aimed at the Albany Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) and Tantastic (Mayson), who is also heading towards the Windsor Castle Stakes.

The new Tattersalls Online platform will feature photos and videos of each horse, where they can be inspected as well as information including x-rays and endoscopes.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said; "Tattersalls Online is an exciting new chapter for Tattersalls and it is fitting that we have a filly as exciting as West End Girl to headline the first sale on the eve of Royal Ascot.

"We have been quietly working on an online platform for a couple of years but have accelerated the development and launch in response to the new challenges we all face as a result of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

We are confident that buyers and vendors will find Tattersalls Online easy and convenient to use and we are looking forward to showcasing a small but select group of horses in training on the eve of the world's most prestigious race meeting."
