A colt by New Approach (Galileo) was the headline act of the final day of the Tattersalls Ireland Sale on Tuesday after Robson Aguiar - who was working on behalf of Ebonos - went to £190,000 for the Boherguy Stud consigned yearling.

Catalogued as Lot 260, the colt was purchased on behalf of AMO Racing and trainer Roger Varian and he is out of Group 3 winner Maoineach (Congaree), making him a brother to New Treasure, who won the Round Tower Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) on August 28.

Maoineach herself is a sister to Listed winner Tiz Now Tiz Then (Tiznow).

"Roger really liked this horse, I am just helping!" said Aguiar. "The colt has everything there, he is a nice horse and has a nice pedigree."

New Treasure is trained and was bred by Jim Bolger, and is owned by Mrs Jim Bolger. Bolger, grand-father of Boherguy Stud's Clare Manning, also bred this colt and also trained the sire New Approach.

There was plenty of interest around the ring and underbidders included Dwayne Woods and Matt Coleman.

Manning said: "I knew the two of them were lovely individuals. Although they're quite different types they're both extremely nice individuals in their own ways, and the updates were obviously big boosts. I thought they'd be popular but they've both completely exceeded expectations. They've both really pulled it out of the bag!

"It couldn't have gone any better really. To get one touch like that is unbelievable, never mind two. There was a bit of apprehension coming to sale as we knew we had nice individuals but you're just not sure how deep people are going to be willing to put their hands into their pockets."

Later on in the afternoon, Peter and Ross Doyle parted with £155,000 for colt by former Darley shuttler Night Of Thunder (Dubawi), who was offered as Lot 421 by Grove Stud.

Ross Doyle said he had shown colt to Richard Hannon, who trained Night Of Thunder to four victories, including two at Group 1 level and the trainer said the colt reminded him of his father.

"He is a very nice individual," said buyer Ross Doyle. "I took Richard Hannon to see him yesterday and he said that this horse reminds him of his sire Night Of Thunder, whom he trained.

"This colt looks a two-year-old type, he walks well, he is from a good farm in Grove Stud and, of course, Night Of Thunder is doing so well, he has some fantastic stats – gives you great chances of getting a good racehorse. He goes to Richard and is for a client."

Brendan Holland of Grove Stud paid 30,000gns for the colt at last year's Tattersalls December Foal Sale and he is out of placed mare Tuolumne Meadows (High Chaparral), who is herself a half-sister to Circumvent (Tobougg) and further three stakes-placegetters.

Meanwhile the colt’s third dam is Serene Quest (Rainbow Quest) - the dam of Group 3 winner Saddler’s Quest (Sadler’s Wells) and Listed-winning pair Quiz Mistress (Doyen) and Seren Hill (Sabrehill). Serene Quest also produced Capriolla (In The Wings), who also produced 2018 Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) runner-up Marmelo (Duke of Marmalade) and Group 3 winner Vent De Force (Hurricane Run).
