One-time winner Taramansour (Dansili) will continue his career in Australia after Billy Jackson-Stops and Matt Cumani went to €105,000 for the Aga Khan Studs-consigned colt at the Goffs Ireland Horses In Training Sale on Thursday.

Catalogued as Lot 574, the colt who landed a Cork maiden over 1m2f and is rated 92.

The son of Dansili (Danehill) is out of Listed winner Tanoura (Dalakhani), making him a half-brother to three other winners headed by Group 3-winning pair Taniyar (Shamardal) and Tanaza (Dubawi).

Tanoura is herself a daughter of Group 2 winner Takarouna (Green Desert) - the dam of Grade 2 winner Takarian (Doyoun), Group 2 scorer Takali (Kris) and Takar (Oratorio), who won at Group 3 level.

Jackson-Stops told Racing & Sports Bloodstock he was keen to secure the former Dermot Weld-trained colt having missed out on some horses at the recent Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale last month.

“We had a go at some at the Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale last month and we were a long way out of the ball park on quite a few of them,” said Jackson-Stops. “Taramansour is very lightly-raced and I think we have managed to find the value with this horse.

“Derevo, who was offered at the Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale and made 340,000gns, and he was by the same sire and off the same mark and he is a year older. I am pretty confident we have got him for good value.

“This horse ran in one of the hottest maidens of the year, which was won by Tiger Moth, who went on to run second in the Melbourne Cup and Taramansour finished five lengths behind him.

“He stepped up to a mile four and probably wasn’t quite strong enough to see it out and 2000 metres seems to be his thing and quick ground is the key, which is why we thought he would suit going down to Australia.

“All of his bad performances have been on soft ground, other than one time on good ground when he got hampered and we are confident he can do really well down there and I don’t think he will have to improve a huge amount to be effective down there.”

One lot later Chris Waller went to €50,000 to secure Bashiyr (Invincible Spirit). Another offering from the Aga Khan Studs, four-year-old gelding has raced ten times for two wins. Also trained by Dermot Weld, Bashiyr’s last win came at Galway last September and was most recently seen finishing second over 1m4f at Listowel.

The gelding is one of four winners out of Group 3 winner Baliyana (Dalakhani) who is herself out of French Listed winner Balanka (Alzao) who is the grandam of Bayrir (Medicean) who won the Secretariat Stakes (Gr 1, 10f) in 2012.

Overall 62 of the 86 lots offered were sold for €1,019,800 at an average of €16,448 and median of €7,000 with only two lots selling for six figures and six lots selling for €50,000 or more.
