A son of former Coolmore Stud shuttler Saxon Warrior (Deep Impact) sold well at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale on Thursday after Camas Park Stud went to 160,000gns to secure the colt from the Highclere Stud draft.

Catalogued as Lot 603, the colt is the third foal out of Listed-winning Canford Cliffs (Tagula) mare Aktoria.

Aktoria is herself a half-sister to Listed winner Sweet Charity (Myboycharlie), while the colt’s third dam is fellow Listed scorer Epagris (Zalazl).

"Saxon Warrior was a hell of a racehorse, he was one of the best racehorse for many many years,” said Tim Hyde of Camas Park Stud. “This colt is a lovely individual and will come back for resale next year."

Lady Carolyn Warren of Highclere Stud said she was delighted for the colt’s breeders, Leonidas and Marina Marinopoulos.

"I am absolutely delighted for breeder Leonidas and Marina Marinopoulos with their partners. What a wonderful example of how lovely Saxon Warrior's stock are. He is a real credit to his sire, he is a gorgeous horse with a great temperament, he was very popular in the yard, I am delighted for everybody."

"He came to us to prep, we do a lot with Leonidas and Marina – our mares stay with them when they are over for French stallions and we sell yearlings for them too. They are tremendous breeders, they have been in the game for a very long time, they are lovely people."

Saxon Warrior shuttled to Coolmore’s Jerrys Plains base for one season in 2019 where he covered 97 mares.
