Who are your pick of the colts and why?
Lot 22, Lohnro - Place Gardens is a quality colt that could be effective at an earlier age than perhaps some of the others.
Lot 352 Pierro - Dolmabache is bred on the great cross and he is a classic type of colt with a great action. Interestingly the two colts are quite closely related.
Who are your pick of the fillies and why?
Lot 254 Savabeel - Asama Blue is a typical Savabeel with a real physical presence. She is from an exceptional international family that produced Paris Lights, winner of the Grade 1 American Oaks this season.
Lot 94 Zoustar - Scintillula is an impressive filly with a great walk and attitude. She is a daughter of a Group winning Galileo mare and the first foal has now won four times.
Who do you feel has improved most over the prep?
Lot 168 Reliable Man - Teatro. This colt has furnished into a very attractive individual and with his sire making so much progress he is sure to catch the eye of a good judge.
Lot 257 American Pharaoh - Assume. This filly has thrived through the preparation. She has a very good hip and an impressive action to match.
How do you feel the 2021 sale will measure compared to previous renewals?
The Ready to Run Sale did show there can be strength in local buying ranks and that can be coupled with an international online buyers presence. However, it really will be a groundbreaking renewal of the sale and it is very difficult to predict the path it will take.
Quality will always be sought after and I'm sure that will not change. The pandemic has encouraged us to take a wider view of the way we market our horses and to look to technology to broaden the audience we have contact with.
What is the thing that you like most about the sale?
The most enjoyable aspect of the sale is meeting up with all the people again, whether it be buyers or other vendors etc. There are also the representatives of all of the associated industries with products and services. The sale brings a lot of people and characters together to swap stories, information and just a general chance to catch up with everyone.
