A colt by Haunui Farm shuttler Belardo (Lope De Vega) topped the second and final day of the Goffs Sportsman Sale on Friday when bought for €100,000 by Elliott and McElroy.

Offered by Parkway Farm as Lot 719, the colt is the first foal out of the winning Iffraaj (Zafonic) mare Tough Spirit who is herself a daughter of Listed winner One Spirit (Invincible Spirit).
"He's going to Wesley Ward and the aim will be Royal Ascot so expect to see him at Keeneland next April," said Alex Elliott.

Denis McDonnell of Parkway Farm bought Tough Spirit, carrying the colt, at the 2019 Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale in 2019.

Over the two day sale, 337 of the 368 lots offered were sold. The aggregate finished at €6,937,300. The average finished at €20,574 and median was €16,000.

"We are delighted that the Sportsman's Sale continued the vibrancy and tone of the Orby Sale with two days of strong, vibrant and lively trade," said Goffs chief executive Henry Beeby.

"Once again we are indebted to our vendors who backed the sale with a really good commercial catalogue and were rewarded by a huge crowd of potential purchasers hungry to buy from start to finish."
