The Mark Kavanagh-trained 3YO Wild Rain (Manhattan Rain x North Flower by Rory’s Jester) justified favouritism to win by half a neck after breaking clear of the field turning for home.

Wild Rain is the fourth stakes winner this season for Manhattan Rain after G2 winner Moonovermanhattan and Listed winners Manapine and Ondina.

Manhattan Rain will end the season as Australia's joint leading Second Season Sire by stakes winners alongside Medaglia d'Oro.

Manhattan Rain is also the sire of 2YO stakes winner Crafty, who was Group-placed last spring.

Wild Rain's five wins from 11 starts takes her prizemoney beyond $220,000.

Bred by Arrowfield Stud with John Leaver, Wild Rain is from North Flower, a Rory's Jester 2YO city winner and a half-sister to the dam of 2003 Horse of the Year Northerly.

North Flower has also left the stakes-placed city winner Flowerchild (Redoute's Choice), and has an unraced 2YO daughter Tahlia Star (Starcraft) and a weanling filly by Animal Kingdom.

Wild Rain was a $150,000 purchase by Mark Kavanagh from Arrowfield at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.
