Snowden Team In The Zone At Hawkesbury

Joy and despair. Peter and Paul Snowden ran the gamut of emotions on Saturday with a treble of wins at Hawkesbury tempered by their dual Everest winner Redzel suffering another loss at Eagle Farm.

The elation of winning three races on the Hawkesbury Cup program was punctured for the leading Randwick trainers when Redzel was run down by I Am Excited in the G2 Victory Stakes at Eagle farm.

It was later confirmed that Redzel will now be spelled with the Snowden’s looking forward to bringing him back for another tilt at The Everest in the spring.

At Hawkesbury the Snowden team was in top form with feature wins by classy pair Military Zone and Creator and an easy victory for the rising talent Signore Fox.

Quality 3YO Military Zone (Epaulette x Loading Zone by Street Sense) won the G3 Hawkesbury Guineas while the $1.5 million colt Creator (Redoute’s Choice x SiIla Regalis by Exceed And Excel) landed his first career win at second time of asking in the Listed Clarendon Stakes.

Redzel’s owners Triple Crown Syndications purchased Military Zone at the 2017 Melbourne Premier Sale for $140,000. He had earlier sold as a weanling to Paul Willetts Bloodstock Consultancy for the same price at the 2016 Great Southern Sale.

Military Zone has now won three of his six starts including the G3 Gosford Guineas in December for prize-money of $184,880.

He is the first winner from two foals to race out of Loading Zone, a half-sister to the Listed winners Happy Forever (Commands) and Super Lacuna (Grand Lodge) from the family of G1 winner and sire Toorak Toff.

Another half-sister Double Ranga (Exceed And Excel) is the dam of the G2 winner Scarlet Rain (Manhattan Rain) who was sold for $950,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale.

Military Zone is among four stakes winners and is the second multiple stakes scorer by his sire Epaulette, who shuttled to the northern hemisphere between 2014 and 2018. His best runner has been the triple G1 winner Soqrat in South Africa.

Loading Zone has a yearling colt by Kermedec and a weanling filly by Manhattan Rain. She visited Russian Revolution last spring.

Creator’s win was a relief for his connections - James Harron Bloodstock and a host of high-profile investors – due to his huge value as a stallion prospect.

"He has always looked like he was going to need some time but time isn't your best friend when you've got a colt with a pedigree like he has," said Peter Snowden.

"He is going to make his presence felt. He needed to win to give us the confidence to go to Brisbane."

Creator is a three-quarter brother to the G2 winner Sister Madly (Redoute's Choice) from Silla Regalis, a half-sister to Hong Kong champion Silent Witness (El Moxie).
