Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Gold Coast, Kembla Grange, Caulfield, Morphettville, Geraldton and Ascot.

ROSEHILL: RACE 8 @ 3:35 PM

IKNOWASTAR (10) tough on-speed gelding who returned in good order when a fighting second over 1400m at this track on March 30. Goes just as well second-up and will take plenty of catching again. WATERFORD (4) multiple Group 2 placegetter resuming. Had no luck from the wide draw when a close-up fifth in the G2 Ingham at Randwick over 1600m on December 9. Has looked sharp in his two latest trials and expected to sprint well fresh. AMOKURA (3) Queensland Oaks winner resuming from a five-and-a-half-month break. Had no luck from the wide draw when a tenacious third in the G2 Matriarch over 2000m at Flemington last November. Had two searching 1000m trials in readiness for this and not to be underestimated. GREBENI (2) classy gelding resuming after going out a winner after taking out the Maroubra over 1600m at Randwick on December 30. Finished second in a recent 900m trial and just needs luck from the sticky gate.
SELECTIONS: Iknowastar to win.

GOLD COAST POLY: RACE 1 @ 11:54 AM

ACES UP (3) has placed in six of his nine starts and gets a golden opportunity to break his maiden here. Raced on the pace and stuck to his task when 3rd in 2060m maiden at Doomben last start. Gets Noel Callow back aboard, should press forward and be hard to hold out. PUSH TURBO (1) faded in the straight when 8th in Doomben 2060m maiden last start but placed in three of his previous four runs before that. Right in the mix. SISTINE CHAPEL (7) failed last start but her form at this track is solid enough to make her a definite top-three chance. WHYTEEPEE (2) was just edged out in a Toowoomba maiden over 1920m last start on heavy ground. If he can repeat that he can make presence felt. CASSIE'S GIRL (4) was runner-up this track two starts ago and could be one for multiples.
SELECTIONS: Aces Up to win

KEMBLA GRANGE: RACE 1 @ 12:25 PM

DIABELLI (5) lost momentum when it mattered last start and is due a change of luck. At a trip that suits can atone. BULLETS HIGH (3) draws ideally and is an upside type. Has run on strongly in both starts from a spell and finds a longer trip. Right in this. VADAMOS QUEEN (4) has returned in good order with placings in both runs from a break. Won at this trip last prep so must include.
SELECTIONS: Diabelli win.

CAULFIELD: RACE 5 @ 2:05 PM

Group 2 winner BERKELEY SQUARE (4) chased home Young Werther at Flemington before having an interrupted run in the straight here last time. Looks nicely placed against this lot and should be hard to beat. KHOEKHOE (3) found winning form again when successful in the Terang Cup. Usually holds form once he strikes it. Expected to run well. Group 3 winner LET'SBEFRANKBABY (7) has performed well in her two runs back from a break. Drops in weight this time and is expected to feature prominently. MAGNASPIN (2) led throughout in a good display at Moonee Valley last time. Extra trip won't be a problem. Look for a forward showing.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Berkeley Square.

MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 6 @ 3:27 PM

SEONEE (5) is progressing nicely this prep and her form is heading the right way. She made up some ground at Caulfield last start and though no match for the winner that day she did savage the line late. She steps up to a mile which seems like the ideal next step and she is the one to beat here. LEGACIES (18) was a brave BM78 winner at Caulfield 3 weeks ago when clinging on to victory by a head after making all of the running that day. He is a hard horse to get past when his mind is on the job and with 6 kilos less to carry this time, he could take some pegging back again. CAMPIONESSA (1) is a high-class Kiwi mare who tried hard from a wide gate at Randwick last start when finishing ninth in Group 1 class but less than 3 lengths from the winner. She has a great record at the mile and has attracted James McDonald to the saddle. Don't drop her just yet. Can win. LADY JONES (10) let down very nicely when scoring second up over 1400 metres at Bendigo 2 weeks ago. She is not out of this.
SELECTIONS: Seonee to win.

GERALDTON: RACE 2 @ 4:09 PM

LIPS DON'T LIE (6) ran on late as favourite last start, finished fourth, and not far from the winner. She is having her third start since moving from South Australia and should be spot-on with her fitness. The key this time is the extra furlong on offer and a win is there for the taking. LE GRAND JEU (1) ran an improved race for third with the winkers on for the first time here 10 days ago. The drop to 1400 metres won't be an issue and he should be right in the finish again. BLATANT DISARRAY (9) finished sixth in the same race as the second pick last time out. She may be able to settle a touch closer to the pace this time from a superior gate and with more upside than most, she is worth including in all combinations. STRUCK BY LUCK (3) has only been run down late in his last couple of starts after leading and as he is still on the up with his fitness, he may see it through this time. Each way.
SELECTIONS: Lips Don't Lie to win.

ASCOT : RACE 9 @ 1:50 PM

DESENNEA (1) wasn't far away when closing off well over 1400m last time out and looks primed for this race. Now third-up and out to the mile with Pike on board from a good gate. Trending the right way and he ticks plenty of boxes in the last. LORD GANNICUS (2) was too classy in the Narrogin Cup last time out but was very effective over this trip prior to that win. Form out of his last run at this track and distance two back makes for good reading. Classy animal who'll give a good sight from the front. SOWAR (6) ran over the top to score here a week ago and drops back in trip slightly. He's always around the mark and he has gone close on the quick turnaround previously. Should be in the finish again. CATCH THESE HANDS (5) disappointed here two back but won well at Albany last start. Inside draw helps his chances. STRIKE NOW (4) closed off well fresh and can run an improved race out in trip.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Desennea in the last.
