Race 3 – La Broutillerie Maiden Stakes (AW 1800m)

Juan Seguin (Jean-Claude Rouget/Cristian Demuro)

Juan Seguin (Invincible Spirit) has caught the eye on each of his three starts to date for Jean-Claude Rouget. He travelled powerfully throughout the race making his debut on heavy ground at Deauville in October, under hands-and-heels riding. The runner-up, Mond (Sea The Moon), has subsequently scored in style for Andre Fabre and Godolphin.

On second outing, the three-year-old was held in a pocket in the home straight in a Deauville AW maiden, picking up well once in the clear finishing a closing second.

Last week, delivering seasonal reappearance, the youngster was once more a shade unlucky on the AW at Chantilly, flashing home from an unpromising position.

Owners White Birch Farm were successful in the last season's G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (2400m) with the impressive Sottsass (Siyouni). While Juan Seguin is unlikely to scale those heights, he looks a ready-fire maiden winner granted a clear passage and is set to improve throughout the season at distances from 2000m upwards. His dam, Pretty Face (Rainbow Quest) is a yet to race sister to G2 winner Manifest, a half-sister to G1 Epsom Oaks (2400m) winner Reams Of Verse.
