The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased three colts at the recent Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in Australia for a total outlay of AU$1,010,000 (approx. HK$5.173 million).

Lot 45. Medaglia d'Oro - Base Paradise colt. Picture: Inglis

Lot 4 is an athletic youngster with an exciting pedigree. He is a son of the undefeated two-time G1 winner Teofilo, whose progeny include Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter and Hong Kong's champion stayer and three-time G1 winner Exultant. The colt's dam is a half-sister to top-class New Zealand galloper Sacred Star, who notched consecutive G1 wins when taking the Telegraph and Waikato Sprint.

Medaglia d'Oro, the sire of Golden Sixty, is responsible for Lot 45. Golden Sixty has won nine from 10, all in Hong Kong, including the first two legs of the 2020 Four-Year-Old Classic Series, the Hong Kong Classic Mile and Hong Kong Classic Cup. Southern hemisphere progeny includes G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver and G1 Golden Rose victor Astern. This youngster is his dam's ninth foal, seven of which have raced for six winners, including two-time Hong Kong winner Strathallan, as well as Brazuca, a five-time G1 place-getter in South Africa.

Lot 422 is a colt by Brazen Beau, winner of the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and Newmarket Handicap, both over 1200m at Flemington. The stallion has sired a G2 winner in Colada, winner of the Stan Fox Stakes, and his oldest progeny are still only three-year-olds. His dam won twice from only three starts, while the colt's second dam won three times including the G3 Fillies Blue Diamond Preview and Listed Maribyrnong Plate.
