Fanshawe sprinter bids for third win in Listed contest
Group One hero The Tin Man will aim to win Windsor’s Listed Weatherbys Hamilton Stakes for a third time on Monday.
James Fanshawe’s seven-year-old made a successful reappearance in 2016, and again 12 months ago.
The gelding won at the highest level for a third successive season when prevailing in the Sprint Cup at Haydock in September, but was a beaten favourite at Ascot on Champions Day when last seen.
Fanshawe said: “He has got a 7lb penalty. He worked on the grass for the first time this year on Wednesday, and he seems in good form.
“We will see if he still has it during the season, but he is still very enthusiastic. He is very laid-back in his training, but I think the main thing is that he is moving well.
“He has won this race two out of the last three years, so I would rather be going here than heading up to York for his first run.
“We will just play things by ear and get the first race out the way and see how he goes – but he does like Ascot, so it would be great if we could go there again afterwards.”
In opposition is Sir Michael Stoute’s Dream Of Dreams, Ayr Gold Cup dead-heater Baron Bolt, John Gosden’s Emblazoned and Brian Meehan’s Barraquero – who won the Richmond Stakes at two but ran only once last year.
