Ten-year-old ran solid race in trial for Chepstow marathon.
Tom Symonds believes Bobo Mac is at the right stage of his career to contest a race like the Coral Welsh Grand National at Chepstow.
The race has been rescheduled after the course was waterlogged on its original date, December 27 and officials at the course took the early decision this week to lay frost covers down on Sunday in preparation for a series of cold nights to come.
Bobo Mac was last seen finishing third in a trial for the Welsh National behind big-race favourite Secret Reprieve.
"The tracks are doing a tremendous job trying to keep the show on the road. It's not easy when they are very wet and then completely frozen," Symonds told Sky Sports Racing.
"We are hopeful, but the difficulty is when Adrian Heskin came to school him the other day he said he could probably do with a bit of rain to loosen the ground and I don't think that's going to happen.
"He is in great form, but we're hopeful more than confident. It's a big race and a big ask, but we were very happy with him in the trial which gave him a great go around the course which is what the trial is about.
"He's been a horse we've had to mind and cuddle round as he's had a few issues with his jumping, but touch wood he's got the metronomic rhythm that you need over fences.
"He got a bit lost around Warwick last year in the Classic Chase, but then came back and ran well at Wetherby, so hopefully that was just a bridging season over fences last year and now we can look at some bigger tasks."
