3yo Blast Onepiece wins Arima Kinen

3 minute read

Before a crowd of over 100,000 people the 3yo Blast Onepiece held off the charge of the favourite Rey de Oro to win the G1 At Nakayama.

Kiseki did what he did in the Japan Cup and went to the front early and at one stage was 5 lengths ahead of the field but that notorious last 100 uphill was too much for him and this allowed the pack to charge through.

Finishing fastest and with the 2kgs allowance for a 3yo Blast Onepiece held off the fast-finishing Rey de Oro and having shadowed Rey de Oro through the run Cheval Grand under Hugh Bowman came through to finish third, ahead of Mikki Rocket and Oisin Murphy.

Kiseki held on to 5th money and Brenton Avdulla's mount Satono Diamond finished sixth.

The turnover for the race was in yen 43,661,039,500 which we think is about Aus $5.5 million.

Blast Onepiece has now won his first G1 and his 5th win in 7 starts.
