An unusual start to a Hong Kong card with the program kicking off with a Class 1 over 1200m.
There are only four horses in it which is also rare for Hong Kong so we are left with the thought that it is going to be a good day for Sylvester de Sousa as he rides Wishful Thinker in this for Richard Gibson and odds-on look on is our recommendation.
We then go down to Race 8 also Class 1, the Lavender Handicap over 1600m with de Sousa riding Simply Brilliant for Franke Lor - they are on 3.7 just ahead of What Else But You for Zac Purton and John Size 3.8, with Regan Bayliss on Rise High for Caspar Fownes.
The Lusitano Challenge Cup is Class 2 on the AWT over 1650m and again de Sousa rides the favourite here - Elusive State on 2,2 for Millard. Purton is on Glorious Artist for Frankie Lor and they are on 5.7 and we are sticking in a roughie here - Raging Blitzkreig on 13.0 - Noel Callan rides for John Size.
de Sousa had a back problem during the week but such an enticing book of rides seems to have worked a miracle cure!
