Notes from Hong Kong Wednesday

With some news from Monday and a hot tip for tonight's Happy Valley card.

Monday's top race the 1200m Cl. 2 went to the one we left out of our selections - Fortune Booth with Vince Ho riding for John Moore. From our selections High Five ran second, Gunnison third, Ugly Warrior fourth and Flat Heaven fifth.

There's a change in the trackwork schedules this week with the the first lot going out at 4.00 am and the seccond lot at 8.50. We 'fess up that we were not on track at 4.00 am - doesn't fit in with anyone's programs as far as we can tell - supposed to be something to do with quarantine but then the overseas horses have always been in quarantine and we have not had this timetable. Anyhow the second lot was mostly on the turf headed by Zac Venus, a strong looking Japanese fellow who will run in the sprint. He was followed by the girls - Lys Gracieux and Deidre, the latter under race day jockey Yutaka Take - and then the gorgeous grey Win Bright looked ready to go and go and go under his raceday jockey Matsuoka-san.

Viddora came and had a turn around on the all-weather but seemed to be more impressed by seeing herself on the big screen. She had been out earlier so this was gentle work as she looks very fit. We saw the film clips of her earlier run together with that of Eminent (He's Eminent) and the kiwi Enzo's Lad. Santa Ana Lane was also out for really a look around - he looks very fit.

So the hot tip for the Valley is in Race 6 Fat Turtle! He's on 4.1 with Lady First on 4.8 and the first starter (in Hong Kong) Red Desert on 5.7. John Size trains, Joao Moreira rides and he's owned by former HKJC Chair Ronnie Arculli hence the "Red" as in Red Cadeau etc. He's by Oasis Dream so should be kept safe.
