Goodwood gets underway today but the weather isn't very promising.
At the moment the track is rated good but some heavy showers and possible thunderstorms are in the forecast.
The Vintage Stakes gets the group racing underway with 7 2yos in the 1400m contest. Godolphin's unbeaten Pinatubo is on top here for Appleby-Doyle on 11/8. Mark Johnston has Visinara here on 11/4 but with Dettori riding may well start shorter, and Lope y Fernandez was fancied at his last outing but may have needed that run. He's on 5/1 for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.
The Lennox Stakes also G2 is for 3yos over the same 1400m with a field of 10. Hey Gaman and Zaaki are both on a 3/1 quote with last year's winner Sir Dancelot on 13/2.
The Goodwood Cup G1 3200m is of great interest to those of us in the Southern Hemisphere and the field contains last year's Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter on 10/3. But the big favourite here is Stradivarius who is on 4/6 for the all-conquering Gosden-Dettori team. Dee Ex Bee could be a good e/w here on 6/1.
