Following the dreadful attack in Peru, news has come through from Libya of another.
Al Shaab Stud, founded in April 2000, is the leading stud in Libya and has an impressive line up of stallions. The Chief Vet and Manager reported that 6 stallions and 6 in-foal mares were captured in an attack which allegedly came from a group in Tarune who are loyal to the Haftar faction of the Libyan National Army. There has been quite a bit of trouble around the Libyan capital of Tripoli, where the stud is located.
The stallions included Eavesdropper, by Kingmambo, and the Australian bred stallions Churchill Downs, Brut Force and Backdraft.
The mares are due to foal shortly, so an impassioned plea has been put out for their safe return.
