Hewitson's run continues

3 minute read

Jockey Lyle Hewitson has ridden another big-time winner in Japan this weekend.

He was on board Galore Creek, a Kinshasa no Kiseki colt, who was the 16.6 winner of the 2000 gns trial, the Fuji TV Sho Spring Stakes at Nakayama.  They beat the odds-on favourite Weltreisende by 1 ¼ lengths who was followed home in market order by Succession and Falconia.

At Hanshin Yasunori Iwata rode a patient race in the Daishoten waiting for a gap in the straight and when it came he steered You Can Smile through it and the rest, as they say, was history.  They were 1 ¾ lengths ahead off Tosen Cambino 15.4 and Meisho Tengen 10.0 was a further ½ length back and in turn he was just a nose in front of Muito Obrigado.  The Daishoten is considered a prep for the Spring Tenno Sho.

21 Japanese horses were in Dubai for the Dubai World Cup Meeting so they will come home and it will be back to the drawing board for their trainers.
