2000 Guineas Trial at Medan Thursday 14th.

3 minute read

And there is another good race for 3yos on turf after it.

The Guineas trial is over 1600m and has 11 runners, headed by two talented runners in Mouheeb, trained by Nicholas Bachelard, who won impressively at Jebel Ali and the Godolphin Appleby-Buick Rebel's Romance who has two good wins on AWT in the UK and looks very promising.  They top the market in the UK.

Also promising is Zhou Storm, from the stables of Ali Rashid Al Rayhi with Connor Beasley in the irons and a quote of 4/1.

The Dubai Trophy is over 1200m on turf and is also for 3yos.  According to our records First Smile is a filly although the Meydan preview refers to it as a colt and a "he".  However the weights seem to back up our point as First Smile has a weight advantage over the others and comes is as favourite here – possibly odds-on – with Saeed bin Suroor and Pat Cosgrave looking to repeat their success in the 1000 Gns trial.  Fawzi Naas seems to have a good one here in First Prophet and Adrie de Vries rides, and Satish Seemar saddles Barber of Seville with Tadgh O'Shea riding.

It's been very cold in that part of the world so rug up if you are one of the people allowed to attend.  The desert is NOT always hot.
