A day in the dirt

3 minute read

The feature race on Sunday's card at Sha Tin is the Egret Handicap over 1650m on the AWT.

It's Class 1 and features the dirt specialist King's Shield on his favourite surface.  The Frankie Lor trained horse has Zac Purton riding and the top weight doesn't seem to have deterred the punters who have him on 1.8.  Stablemate Glorious Artist runs on anything and will be in the hands of Derek Leung – he has the weight advantage but is probably not as good as King's Shield, who has three C&D wins.  They are on 6.0.  Both horses are entered for the Godolphin Mile in Dubai should it be possible to get there.  Circuit Glory is our third pick on 8.0.

The Flamingo Handicap is Class 2 down the straight 1000m.  Richard Gibson's Wellington is going for a double here which looks highly probable – Zac Purton has the ride and they are on 2.4.  Beauty Applause has also got a good chance here for Size-Moreira and is on 5.9 with good reports on his track work.  Multimillion (Cruz-Teetan) is fast and comes in on a quote of 8.2.  And Classic Unicorn is on 9.2 for Chris So and Derek Leung.
