A couple of close seconds and finally a win in the Nassau at Goodwood.
Lady Bowthorpe's trainer got his first G1 since 1994 and jockey Kieran Shoemark his first as they came through to finish 1 ¼ lengths in front of Zeyaadah 7/1 and Joan of Arc third.
The G2 Richmond saw Alan King pick up a second trophy when Asymmetric won the 1200m contest with Khuman 16/1 second and Gubbass 4/1 third in the 7 runner field.
The Gordon Stakes was a nice result for Irish trainer Johnny Murtagh when Ottoman Emperor saluted – Ben Coen as usual in the irons, with Sir Lucan second and Third Realm third. Yibir's jockey said his horse ran too freely and therefore didn't have a lot left.
On Friday the going is still good-soft and there's the Bonham's Thoroughbred Stakes G3 for starters. It's for the 3yo and a bit of excitement surrounds Baaeed who looks like he's moving in the direction of greater things. Unbeaten and currently 4/7. El Drama 6/1 and Khartoum 11/1 likely placers.
The King George Qatar Stakes is G2 over 1000m and it will be a real test for Battash. We still love him to bits and even if the 3/2 is a bit skinny we'll probably continue to show our support. Dragon Symbol is 3/1, Art Power 6/1 and French raider Suesa hasn't come here for the strawberries – 10/1 for the Rohaut runner with William Buick to ride.
The L'Omarins Queen's Plate G3 has 9 runners and is over 2400m. This looks like a very good race for Mogul who is on 5/2. Euchen Glen is on 7/2, Passion and Glory from the Saeed bin Suroor stables and Oisin Murphy riding is on 4/1, and our roughie here is Pablo Escobar 12/1 for William Haggas and William Buick.
