Dermot Weld horse wins Galway Mile

We advised the faithful to always back Dermot Weld at Galway.

Trainer : Dermot Weld. Picture: Pat Healy Photography

And on Tuesday he justified our faith by saddling the winner of the Galway Mile, Coeur d'Or, who started at 12/1.  Chris Hayes was in the irons.  It was only a head in front but a win is a win.  Second was No More Porter 18/1 and third Dunum 11/1.

Wednesday sees one of the highlights of the week in the Galway Plate, a Handicap Chase in which Willie Mullins has 5 of the 22 runners and Gordon Elliot 6.  We have two from each trainer in the top four picks – Willie Mullins has Kilcruit who won well recently at Punchestown resulting in a bit more weight but hopefully will be good enough and Paul Townend rides – they are 11/2.  Stablemate Authorised Art has Danny Mullins riding and they are 8/1.  The same quote is there for one of the Elliiots – Hollow Games with Sam Ewing riding, but stablemate Fury Road could be the go here on 10/1 and Jack Kennedy is riding.

There's also the Today Handicap over 3300m with a field of 20.  The going remains soft.

Immelman is another Willie Mullins runner and he's selected Rachael Blackmore for the ride and they are 4/1.  Stablemate Mr Escobar is 9/2 with Chris Hayes riding.  En Or is 6/1 for Tony Martin and Ben Coen, and Youcrackmeup on the same quote for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley.
