Strawberry Boy Too Strong At Doomben

3 minute read

Strawberry Boy has led all the way to take out the Lord Mayor's Cup at Doomben under Zac Purton.

Strawberry Boy Picture: Racing and Sports

Strawberry Boy was well supported by punters in the lead up to the race and he didn't let them down.

He crossed to lead at what looked a strong gallop early with a keen Estonian Princess racing to his outside. He had her beaten as they hit the turn and quickly put a gap between himself and the field as they balanced up.

Purton had to just keep him up to his work from there with Lucky Lago and I'm Imposing chasing into the placings without threatening.

Earlier on the card Peace Force led home a Gerald Ryan-trained quinella in the Glenlogan Park Stakes, beating her stablemate Solicit and confirming the form of the Darley Crown from Rosehill a fortnight back.

Both are expected to push on to the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes in two weeks time with the ultimate goal to be the Group 1 Tatt's Tiara on the last day of Brisbane's Winter Carnival.
