The three-year-old son of Street Cry and the former champion race mare finished 12th in The Grand Hotel Frankston Plate (1300m) at William Hill Park Hillside.

Rated a $9 chance, Last Typhoon settled toward the rear of the field and was under heavy pressure from jockey Dwayne Dunn on the turn, eventually hitting the line almost 13 lengths astern of the winner.

A six-time Group 1 winner and former Australian Horse of the Year, Typhoon Tracy died in giving birth to Last Typhoon, her first foal.

The colt was passed in at last year’s Inglis Easter Yearling sale for $2.1million.

The race was won by progressive Fastnet Rock filly Sailing By for trainer Mick Price.

It was her first win from three outings and she is among the stable’s nominations for the Group 1 Thousand Guineas.
