Team Hawkes saddle up two last-start winners in the 2016 Doomben Cup in Leebaz and Messene.

Leebaz (Michael Cahill) took out the traditional lead-up, the 2016 Hollindale Stakes and drew barrier two in the 2016 Doomben Cup while Messene (James Orman) broke a long run of outs in winning the 2016 Wagga Cup and jumps from gate four.

John O’Shea also saddles up a pair of runners in the 2016 Doomben Cup with Hauraki (James McDonald) drawing the rails gate while It’s Somewhat (Damian Browne) is in nine.

Chris Waller accepted with two of his 2016 Doomben Cup entries, the import Spiritjim (Hugh Bowman) drawing three and Lady Le Fay (Jason Collett) in seven.

Lee and Anthony Freedman have sent Our Ivanhowe (Kerrin McEvoy) north for the 2016 Doomben Cup and he jumps from six with New Zealander Volkstok’n’barrell (Blake Shinn) in five.

David Vandyke’s Maurus (Blake Spriggs) and Noble Protector (Tim Clark) round out the 2016 Doomben Cup field.
