The Money Trail – Warwick Farm, Wednesday August 3

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Warwick Farm.

Track: Heavy 9

Rail: +5m 1000m-W/Post + 3m Remainder

First race: 1.05pm

Pittsburgh (Race 1) has been backed in two points since markets opened and is now the market elect at $4.20. He is still a maiden but has raced against some strong opposition including Yankee Rose, Astern and Faraway Town and will be ready to fire fresh after two barrier trials, winning the latest at Randwick.

Consented (Race 3) has been placed at his last five runs including at this track and distance two starts back when he was just edged out and has been within 0.3L of the winner at his last four outings. Punters believe that is good enough form to win this and he has firmed the best part of a point to a fixed odds quote of $3.30 with TopBetta.

Perizada (Race 5) has been backed into favouritism at $4.60 in what is a wide betting market. The mare has the joint highest last-start rating when finishing second at Moruya and had been a dominant country winner before that so the money suggests she can take the step up to city class.

Big Arty (Race 6) has won both of his runs so far this campaign and is a $3.80 chance to complete the hat trick after firming more than a point since betting commenced. He has clearly returned a better horse with both of his victories coming at this course and he has continued to improve his ratings, suggesting there is more progress to be made.
