Anti-Inflammatory Positive For Bourke

3 minute read

Geelong trainer Kelvin Bourke is the latest to have a horse test positive to an anti-inflammatory.

Racing Victoria stewards have received a report confirming the Bourke-trained Can't Refuse returned a positive sample to phenylbutazone and its metabolite oxyphenbutazone, a non-steroidal antiinflammatory, prohibited substances under the

rules of racing.

The positive test comes from a pre-race sample taken from Can't Refuse who finished unplaced at Sandown on 26 July.

Stewards are continuing their investigation.

Last week Darren Weir, Henry Dwyer and Simon Morrish were all fined after horses in their care tested positive to an anti-inflammatory at the Burrumbeet jump-outs in June.
