RANDWICK January 11

Soft 6 – Randwick A Grass

12 Heats – Heat 1 1200m (Open); Heats 2-5 1050m (2 Open; 2 Maiden); Heats 6-12 735m (3 2YO; 1 Open; 3 Maiden)

NOTED TRIALS

XX Slow Burn; Coast; Accession; Espaaniyah; Wimlah

X Sondelon; Domed; Lucand Lad; Call Me Royal; Autumn; Camdus; Got Your Six; Bastille Grey; Canzonet

The connections of the classy youngsters ACCESSION and ESPAANIYAH would have been happy with their efforts while the unraced COAST matched them with a promising win in his third trial. COAST ran the fastest of the 735m heats (42.60; 33.10), putting in a strong sprint over the last 300m while ACCESSION was allowed to run to the line from the back half for an unextended third in the same heat. The fast Moonee Valley winner ESPAANIYAH was always travelling well within herself to safely hold off challengers and win her heat with plenty in reserve (43.51; 33.60).

The good mare SLOW BURN, with Blake Shinn back riding from injury after getting his clearance, looks ready to produce her best after her sharp win in the 1200m heat where the efforts of SONDELON and DOMED behind her were noteworthy.

WYONG January 9

Soft 5 – Course Proper

14 Heats – Heat 1 1200m (Open); Heats 2-5 1000m (2 Open; 2 Maiden); Heats 6-14 845m (5 2YO; 2 Open; 2 Maiden)

NOTED TRIALS

XXX McLaren

XX Holy Reign; Tikitala

X Singing; White Boots; My Sweet Fish; Dawn Passage; Game Of Circles; Joigny

McLAREN (Peter & Paul Snowden): Confirmed the good impression he made in the September trials when he beat Unite And Conquer in a Randwick heat. This time he travelled easily in the lead and showed class as he extended like a good colt over the last 200m for a soft win in the fastest of all the 845m heats (50.85; 33.67). Expect him to make an impact when produced.

WARWICK FARM January 8

Soft 6 – Inside Grass

16 Heats – Heats 1-2 1200m (1 Open; 1 Maiden); Heats 3-10 804m (2 Open; 6 2YO); Heats 11-16 800m (6 Maiden)

NOTED TRIALS

XXX Swizeler

XX Champagne Cuddles; Tailleur; Calculated Risk; Modernity

X Wayanka; White Moss; Wandonna; Spring Loaded; Fisticuffs; Deterge; Set Goals; Arcane; Tuesday Special; Straight Torque; Full Recognition; Ta Chanson.

SWIZELER (Matthew Smith): This 4YO maiden mare by Choisir produced a sharp piece of work to lead a strong open company heat over 804m, doing it easily to beat the classy CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES and other noted winners in easily the fastest time for the distance (47.02; 33.50) with a lot in hand. Her only start saw her placed at Scone back in November of 2017. She obviously has the talent to repay her connections for their patience.

MODERNITY (Bjorn Baker): Nice effort from this unraced filly by Foxwedge to track four and five wide in the lead in her 800m heat before spearing away over the last 200m for a soft win, posting good overall time and closing sectionals (47.47; 33.90). She has been well educated with four trials, this being her first since she won at Rosehill heat that we noted back in September. Talented.

ROSEHILL January 2

Good 4 – Inside Grass

16 Heats – Heats 1-4 1030m) (2 Open; 2 Maiden); Heats 5-11 900m (2 Open; 5 2YO); Heats 12-16 896m (1 3YO Open; 4 Maiden)

NOTED TRIALS

XX Sanctioned; Platinum Tycoon; Amercement; Bollywood

X Hurricane Harbour; Deploy; Glenall; Egyptian Missile; Antonio Padre; Deep Chill; North; Mr Dependable.

SANCTIONED is ready to go after a strong win in his 1030m heat against some good types in superior time to the other heats over the distance (1.02.59; 35.20). Behind him HURRICANE HARBOUR put in late in good style and DEPLOY was given a very easy time over the last 200m after leading.

PLATINUM TYCOON has won 10 of his 23 starts in Queensland from 870m to 1200m and should fit in nicely in suitable short course sprints after showing excellent speed to win his 900m heat in slick time (54.02; 34.10). GLENALL (54.95; 34.80) recorded a solid 900m heat win without undue pressure.

Godolphin’s 2YO team is flying and they had two standouts among the juvenile heats in AMERCEMENT[ and BOLLYWOOD. Lonhro filly AMERCEMENT was an impressive fourth in the Gimcrack Stakes at her only start and again showed big talent to come from the rear and run past all her rivals in the last 200m to win her 900m heat. The time was slow (55.05; 35.60) but she does take the eye. BOLLYWOOD was placed behind the classy Hightail at Kembla on debut and it was hard to miss her hard held fourth with plenty to offer in her heat behind a good type in EGYPTIAN MISSILE in a much faster heat (54.68;35.30). The winner is a half-sister to the classy EGYPTIAN SYMBOL in the same stable and has obvious ability. There was merit in the heat wins of ANTONIO PADRE (54.74; 35.0); DEEP CHILL (55.10; 35.,20) and NORTH (55.54; 35.70).

The unraced MR DEPENDABLE was the pick of the maiden heat winners, leading easily to win his first trial for the Waterhouse/Bott team over 896m (54.75;34.90).
