TAB has accepted its biggest ever bet on Winx with a punter plonking $250,000 at $1.08 on the superstar mare to win Saturday’s Apollo Stakes at Randwick.
The daring punter placed wagers of $150,000 and $100,000 in a 40-minute span and is looking at a potential profit of $20,000 if Winx is victorious on Saturday.
Other big bets placed on Winx today since the field was confirmed include $150,000 at $1.10 and $40,000 at $1.08.
“The bet of $250,000 at $1.08 is the biggest that has been placed on Winx during her winning run and eclipses the $201,200 wager at $1.22 on her to win last year’s Cox Plate,” said TAB spokesman Trent Langskaill.
Winx was backed from $1.25 to $1.15 in TAB’s ‘Pre Nominations’ market which opened in mid-January.
She tightened from $1.12 to $1.10 in TAB’s ‘All In’ market once nominations were made official on Monday.
After the field was finalised today at 10am Winx opened $1.10 and due to the huge support she now $1.08 to resume with a victory on Saturday and extend her winning sequence to 30 races.
