2019 HE TANCRED STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS
Far from a vintage renewal of the Tancred Stakes with this shaping more as a Sydney Cup lead up, as opposed to the WFA grand final it once was. Expect an even tempo in the capacity field.
AVILIUS (1) bounced back in a big way last weekend when a class above in the Ranvet Stakes. Powered through the going there and this is easier. The big question mark remains as to whether he is as good at 2400m and whether he can back it up seven days later. If he does, he wins, simple.
RED CARDINAL (3) is progressing well for the Kris Lees stable and while this is a lot harder, he deserves his chance.
BIG DUKE (8) closed off well last weekend and that should give him the perfect platform for this. Likely to get back, but watch for him late. ACE HIGH (13) needs a firm track, but still cannot be ignored.
