Trial Watch Reviews for Rosehill, Warwick Farm and Hawkesbury : 13th, 20th & 27th May 2019

3 minute read

Chris Scholtz reviews Sydney and NSW provincial barrier trials at Rosehill (May 13), Warwick Farm (May 27) and Hawkesbury (May 20).

ROSEHILL May 13

Good 4; Inside Grass

15 Heats; 4 x 1030m (2 Open; 2 2YO); 11 x 897m (6 2YO; 4 Open; 1 Maiden)

Godot (Team Hawkes): More Than Ready colt went into the blackbook off his first trial win at Hawkesbury on April 29 and this super performance over 897m confirmed that he is yet another exciting prospect carrying the Alan Bell colours. What more can you say about a 2YO that wins eased down in easily the fastest time of all the 11 heats over the trip (52.93; 33.90) - note the quickest of the other 10 heats was 54.20 and the next best last 600m was 34.40. That’s talent!

I Thought So (Peter and Paul Snowden): Has been given a measured an patient prep for his return to racing and want to be with him whenever he is produced after another impressive trial, winning his 1030m heat in the fastest of the four over the trip (1.02.41; 35.00). Had plenty in hand beating the classy Home Of The Brave.

Reloaded (Chris Waller): This impressive Randwick debut winner on Anzac Day looks a real prospect as he oozed class sitting quietly four lengths off the speed in his 897m heat before zooming to the line in the last 80 metres when given the slightest squeeze for a close second over 897m. Ready to go on with it when next produced.

Debate (Team Hawkes): Looked sharp dictating his 897m heat from the front and doing it easily to score by a soft margin in good time (54.20; 34.50). Won a maiden on debut last year and he’s obviously better than his three runs earlier this year indicate.

Class acts I Am Excited and Encryption look in great shape to make their mark in whatever is planned for them in Brisbane. I AM EXCITED came home for this tick over trial after her brilliant win at Doomben and will go back ready to perform at her best again. ENCRYPTION showed he had freshened up beautifully since the Randwick carnival, working through the line in great style for second to a handy type in DIO D’ORO.

Tonsor is a promising sprinter who will be ready to add to his good record when resuming.

Roman Wolf, a 2YO winner in January, has won two recent trials in the style of a youngster set to go on with it when he resumes while Snips looks a sharp type for a suitable maiden.
