Mark Newnham's Surround Stakes winner will miss the spring after injuring a fetlock just days out from her scheduled return to racing in the Show Country Quality at Randwick on Saturday.

Newnham reported that Nakeeta Jane pulled up sore after she galloped on the course proper at Warwick Farm.

"She pulled up sore. We are waiting on a report from the x-ray to her fetlock but she is out for the spring," Newnham said.

He said Nakeeta Jane's owners may decide to retire the So You Think mare immediately to stud rather than persevere for a comeback next year.

"We will be swayed by the vet report. It is disappointing but that's the highs and lows of the game."

Nakeeta Jane has raced only eight times for three wins and three placings, earning $607,050.
