Best From The West: Ascot – 19th October 2019

The good racing is about to hot up and the Northerly Stakes is the start this week at Ascot.

We are all in on the Dan Morton bandwagon this week.

Man Booker was fantastic first up and he deserves to be followed into that Northerly Stakes.

From his outside alley he was last into the corner and that leaves little time to get momentum.

The last furlong was fantastic as he rounded up a very similar group of horses in the Birthday Stakes.

This time he has a much kinder draw and should be able to at least get in front of half the field early on.

He has clearly come back from Brisbane in fine fettle.

Last week we picked Lady Sass and nothing went right to be honest.

We thought she would get back from the draw but in the end was last turning and best she could do would be to pick off half the field.

On the back up, things are a bit different. She is now at the mile and draws a much softer barrier to do no work.

All she needs is to get out when Clint Johnston-Porter wants to. Given her previous ability to stay on, we have to give her another go.
