Brisbane Best: Doomben – 9th November 2019

3 minute read

Progressive mare Golden Mean looks well placed on a competitive day of racing at Doomben on Saturday.

The David Vandyke-trained four-year-old has her third hitout for the season in the Summer Racing @BRC Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1350m.

Golden Mean has done a good job so far this campaign, kicking off with a win at this course when she found the line strongly over 1200m to score comfortably.

She then ran on well again when runner up over 1400m at Eagle Farm and has been given a four-week freshen up so expect she will be primed for this.

Golden Mean's exploits so far this preparation have given the lightly-raced mare a 50 per cent strike rate and Michael Hellyer goes back aboard after guiding her to victory first up.

She maps to get an ideal run in transit from gate three and her recent ratings suggest she is well up to winning.

Another with the figures to go close is Rabbit Hunter in the South Sports Club No Metro Win Handicap over 1050m.

The four-year-old is racing well for trainer Stuart Kendrick with a win and two close seconds from his past three starts.

His ratings at his past couple of outings are above what most of his rivals are capable of producing and he returns to a track where he is already proven.

Rabbit Hunter also has a terrific record at the distance range with three wins and five placings from nine attempts.

Robbie Fradd rides for the first time and with even luck in running looks a strong winning chance.
