Coming from very decent Victorian form, we will be backing Grand Crown in Race 6.
In this prep he was runner up at Flemington, close up in a couple of Sandown races and won a BM70 at Sale.
He came back in journey last start but going back to the 1950m is much more suitable.
Having shown he is consistent, he gets a nice 3kg claim and will be in front of most of his rivals here.
The Two Metro Win Last Year sprint on the day is a really good race and brings together a few Melbourne carnival types.
While Sisstar could bounce back to her best, we're happy to be going to Li'l Kontra for the play.
This filly ran brilliantly in the Blue Sapphire and then the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in the Spring.
She was beaten when odds on after leading when resuming but first up hasn't really been her go.
The main hopes are right beside each other so can keep watch on the rivals. A strong test would suit so they might run them along.
