Brisbane Best: Eagle Farm – 4th July 2020

3 minute read

Progressive colt Quantico looks well-placed to add to his growing reputation when he lines up at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The John O'Shea-trained three-year-old is lightly raced but took his record to two wins from just four starts when resuming at Newcastle.

On that occasion Quantico settled near the rear of a large field but rattled home and drew away for an easy 2.8L win.

He returned the best race sectional of the day for the distance and has plenty of upside so should only be improved.

Quantico looks suited by the wide expanses of Eagle Farm and if jockey Andrew Mallyon can get him into clear air in the straight he should be hard to hold out.

In-form mare Amicitia gets a nice draw and a race to suit earlier in the program.

She has put together a string of top-four finishes, lugging 60.5kg to win at Gold Coast two back then finding the line well when runner up here last time.

She has won three of five attempts at 1400m so should relish the step up in trip and Jim Byrne sticks.
