The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) will celebrate the start of spring racing at Flemington Racecourse with Sofitel Girls' Day In on Saturday 12 September.

Some of racing's headline acts will be on show, including 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup champion Vow And Declare and rising star Russian Camelot, who are both warming up for this year's Lexus Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 3 November.

The Danny O'Brien trained pair  will join a strong field for the feature race, the $750,000 Group 1 PFD Food Services Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), including last year's winner Gatting and Flemington Group 1 winners Kings Will Dream and Fierce Impact.

While patrons can't join us at Flemington Racecourse due to COVID-19 restrictions, the race day experience can be enjoyed at home with delicious food and beverage options from our catering partner Peter Rowland Group, as well as others including The Big GroupAtlantic Group and food&desire

For fashionistas, it's the first day men and women Australia-wide can enter the new, photo-based Myer Fashions on your Front Lawn competition.

The 2020 Myer Fashions on your Front Lawn digital competition offers one of Australia's richest prize pools, with more than $170,000 in prizes up for grabs including a brand new Lexus UX250h 2WD Sports Luxury valued at $70,070 for both the Women's and Men's Racewear National Final winners.

VRC Chairman Amanda Elliott said there was plenty to look forward to on Sofitel Girls' Day In.

"When I saw the fields for Saturday I was really excited by the quality and strength of the races. Some of Australia's best horses will be on show on Saturday as they prepare for the big spring features including Cup Week," Mrs Elliott said.

"Russian Camelot and Vow and Declare are just two of the highlights on an absolutely mouthwatering nine-race program.

"Even though we can't be on course, we're delighted to be offering some of Flemington's favourites, including the highly sought after Peter Rowland race day hampers for delivery by our catering partner, so all fans can enjoy the excellent Sofitel Girls' Day In offers from the comfort of their own homes.

"We know nothing beats a day at the track, but we want everyone to enjoy a race day experience at home until we are able to welcome you back to Flemington Racecourse."

Back on the track other notable races on the card include the $200,000 Group 2 Seppelt Danehill Stakes (1200m) where three-year-old talents Personal, Prague and Doubtland will light up the Flemington straight while the older sprinters compete in the $200,000 Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m). For the fillies and mares there is the Group 2 Furphy Let's Elope Stakes (1400m) featuring powerful West Australian-trained mare Arcadia Queen.

Legendary AFL coach Denis Pagan will saddle up his AAMI Victoria Derby hopeful Johnny Get Angry in the Antler Luggage Exford Plate (1400m). Johnny Get Angry faces competition from the undefeated Cherry Tortoni in a bid for his first win on Saturday.

Catch all the racing action from home via Channel 7, Racing.com and RSN with Race 1 at 12:05pm.
