After a first-up fifth in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes at Rosehill last month, September Run appreciated the slightly weaker company on Saturday when successful in the $140,000 Listed Cap D'Antibes Stakes (1100m) at Flemington.

The victory completed a run of three successive races for horses that had had their previous starts in Sydney with Fierce Impact taking out the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes for Matthew Smith and Doubtland for Hawkes Racing in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes.

September Run has raced just six times, landing three victories, each in a different state.

After breaking her maiden status at Canterbury in May, September Run jumped straight to Listed grade to capture the Listed Bill Carter Stakes at Doomben before a spell and Saturday's success.

Chris Waller's Melbourne representative Jo Taylor said the plan had been to get Craig Williams to ride the filly patiently.

"It was very encouraging," Taylor said.

"We said to Craig to try and give her a soft run and a nice lead early, bide your time and she'll be really strong late.

"They've sent her down in terrific order from Sydney and she certainly backed that up.

"Today was her first look at the straight and sometimes that can be the undoing of these younger type fillies, but she really handled it well."

Taylor said she was unsure what Waller had in store for September Run after capturing a second Listed race victory.

"We'll just take it one step at a time," Taylor said.

"She did it well today and I'm sure that we can look at what's in store for her going forward."
