Winning Trainer: Richard and Chantelle Jolly (Chantelle on phone)

"He was running around in races in weaker races (in Adelaide) paying $1.50 so we thought we'd try for something harder and it came off.

"It worked out exactly as we wanted. We told Craig to ride him just like he did on Kelampasa on Saturday, ride him like he's in a race on his own.

"It's really exciting to win races during Melbourne Cup week. It's great to be performing well but it's a pity that we can't be there."

"We're not sure what could be next. We'll just get him back home first."

Winning Jockey: Craig Williams

Showman: "Matthew Hill makes the racing by his broadcast and his commentary exciting, so its great to acknowledge it and the staff here at Flemington."

"When Richard and Chantelle Jolly bring a horse over they usually have the right one and he ran his heart out for me."

The track: "By the time the Cup comes around, we'll go up to a Good 3, so he's done a really good job, Liam O'Keefe."

"The straight track can be a bit daunting for some horses, because it's a straight line when they're used to running around bends, but Richard and Chantelle Jolly have done a really good job with this horse. He was in his right race today and he gave me a lovely tow at his first look at the straight."

On Surprise Baby and the draw on Saturday night: "I was making sure there was no number in front of that number seven which usually happens. His trainer Paul Preusker is really excited and is really looking forward to the race. I know 12 months ago it looked colourful with all the fans here. Unfortunately they're not here but all the well-wishes I have received through my team, through social media and through my family, I just hope that this race galvinses the country through this pandemic."

Beaten Jockeys:

Kerrin McEvoy on Hard Landing: "It was a good run. He was outstayed by the winner in the last bit."
