Arcadia Queen won this in 2018. Could the 2020 WA Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on Saturday produce one like her?

2020 WA CHAMPION FILLIES STAKES - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The WA Champion Fillies Stakes is a Group 3 race run under Set Weights conditions for the three year old fillies at Ascot conducted by Perth Racing.

The WA Champion Fillies Stakes is run over 1600m. It was first run in 1946 and was won by Burabudy.

It is the feature non-Oaks fillies race over the carnival and run the week before the Railway so they could run in both.

The WA Champion Fillies Stakes has always been over the mile.

The WA Champion Fillies Stakes was a Principal Race then Group 2 from after 1978 until 1997 when back to Group 3.

2003 running was at Belmont racecourse.

For the same owner, Perfect Reflection would go on to win a Kingston Town Classic while Delicacy came back the next Autumn to win two Oaks and two Derbies.

2018 saw an elite filly win in Arcadia Queen. She would back up and win the WA Guineas and then the Kingston Town Classic a fortnight later before heading east to tackle the Everest and Golden Eagle under Chris Waller's care.

Bob Peters again had the winner in 2019 with Tuscan Queen roaring home from near last.

The WA Champion Fillies Stakes was worth $200,000 in 2020.

Notable winners of the WA Champion Fillies Stakes include Tuscan Queen (2019), Arcadia Queen (2018), Perfect Reflection (2015), Delicacy (2014), Miss Rose De Lago (2013), Catechuchu (2006), Kim Angel (1999), Jungle Mist (1985), Starglow (1972) and La Trice (1968).

The 2019 WA Champion Fillies Stakes was won by Tuscan Queen from Sanabreanna and Kay Cee.
