Progressive colt The Elanora stamped himself as a horse to follow for the upcoming Sydney Autumn Carnival after recording an “easy” win in the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes over 2200m at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Coming off consecutive victories in New South Wales, the well-bred Chris Waller trained colt toyed with his opposition, throttling down late under Glen Boss as challengers failed to eventuate.

"He was going to win by a big space today, he deadset could have won by eight lengths but it felt like he lost his opposition and he idled back," Boss said.

"He is not a complicated colt to ride, you can put him straight into the race. He's got terrific gate speed and he can come straight back underneath you.

"He was going so easy I was starting to lose partners on the bridle and as a horse that is so inexperienced, he didn't know how to put them away but that will come."

Queensland Stable Manager for Chris Waller Racing, Paul Shailer, was full of praise for the son of Redoute's Choice as the camp eyes off the 2021 Australian Derby.

"He is a progressive horse and he is heading in the right direction," Shailer said.

"He obviously is a colt and a stallion so he could be very valuable.

"He is a lovely quiet animal. You can do anything you like with him at home.

Bossy  was able to push the button on him out of the barriers, use him up early, but he came straight back underneath him."

Set to follow the traditional autumn path for three-year-olds, The Elanora  will contest the Group One Randwick and Rosehill Guineas on his way towards the ATC Derby at Royal Randwick on April 3.
