After a successful outing on New Year's Day at Flemington, the training partnership of Robbie Griffiths and Mathew de Kock envisage better performances from at least two of their runners at Sale on Sunday.

Imagine Howe, a three-year-old gelding by Reset, had de Kock most optimistic of breaking out of maiden grade in the Ral Constructions Maiden Plate over 1740 metres.

"He was really good at his last start", de Kock said of the outing at Caulfield over 1440 metres on 16 December.

"He had a little rest because he wasn't settling in his work so we just went back to square one, changed some equipment on him and he settled last time out. He ran a good fourth and I think he'll go well in this."

Imagine Howe is rated a $4.10 chance by Racing & Sports form to win at his ninth start.

Northern Reign, another of the Griffiths/de Kock team at Sale steps out for a second career start and de Kock is also expecting her to improve.

Rated an $8.80 chance, this four-year-old Fastnet Rock mare was in his opinion disappointing on debut at Caulfield at the same midweek meeting.

"She has been showing a lot of speed at home so I expect her to go better in this race."

Northern Reign steps back to 1110 metres in the Laurels Function Centre Maiden from the 1200 metre trip last start.
