Deroche looks to have a mortgage on Lady Lynette.

One of last season's star three-year-olds Deroche makes her long-awaited reappearance at the races in Launceston on Wednesday night in the Lady Lynette over 1100 metres, a race restricted to fillies and mares.

Deroche had an outstanding three-year-old season winning multiple races in her own age group but she also was a luckless second in the Group 3 Bow Mistress for fillies and mares in Hobart before ending her campaign with a brilliant win in the Group 3 Vamos Stakes at weight-for-age over 1400m.

She was being prepared for an interstate campaign but that was aborted because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She resumed in Hobart on Melbourne Cup day last year for a third to Minute Repeater, after which she was diagnosed with a virus and was spelled.

Deroche goes to this race without a trial and punters need to be mindful that she has been beaten first-up at her past two campaigns, so the four-year-old mare could be vulnerable, although her opposition tonight is modest and probably warrants the short quote offered by bookmakers of $1.40.

Deroche is likely to be aimed at the Bow Mistress-Vamos Stakes Group 3 double next month, and given she probably should have won the Bow Mistress last season before winning the Vamos, connections will be hoping she finds form early to head to the 2021 editions of those races with added confidence.
