Some interesting racing at Ascot with the Australia Day Trophy the feature.

In that race there is no doubt Son Of A God was unlucky but so often those horses go up unders while the winner gets downgraded and we have the feeling that is the case here with Dig Deep.

The former Karrakatta Plate has finally won some races since that big race and in the Easingwold he was strong late under Willie Pike.

If anything the extra 100m will help and all he has to be is close enough on the corner to be charging home.

There is a little swing in the weights against him but we are getting a premium at the prices because of that.

In the following race, a horse jumps from a wide gate but that could end up being a positive.

Tommy Blue was a winner over this trip but at Pinjarra in good fashion to start the month.

Again under Pike, she went forward and got clear late. The mare can use the barrier to muster speed and worse sit outside the lead.

She isn't meeting a lot of recent winners and carries the same weight as that recent victory.

It can't be a bad thing to be focusing your attention on one W Pike for the day.
