2021 SOUTHERN CROSS STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS
No pace. Race lacks an obvious leader. Albumin perhaps the one who lands in front. ROHERYN (4) returns south after commencing his prep with two strong runs in Queensland. Won the Falvelon Quality first up then charged home for third in the Magic Millions Snippets behind Jonker. Is a sprinter on the up. Ticks all the right boxes at the course, distance and on rain affected ground.
STANDOUT (3) resumes. Has lost just once in three prior first up outings with his lone fresh defeat a closing fifth in The Shorts behind subsequent Everest winner Classique Legend. Also just missed in the Sydney Stakes. Talented albeit inconsistent. Must be respected.
MASKED CRUSADER (7) is clearly talented however this is by far his toughest assignment to date. Last career win came in May 2020 when able to lead. Gets the opportunity to dictate a race void of early speed. HIGHTAIL (9) has been solid in two runs so far this prep. Keep safe. VICTOREM (1) with James McDonald in the saddle also holds value appeal.
