Confidence heading into race: "It was a very deep field, but he had no weight on his back. He is always interesting from the barrier when he jumps. It was the perfect ride from Stackhouse, he let it all unfold in front of him."
Thoughts in straight: "He always gives you a great turn of foot and when he was saved up the way he was today, he lets down really well and you knew over a mile-and-a-quarter that he would let down."
Plans going forward: "We were thinking of giving him a little let-up and taking him up north to Queensland. The Doomben Cup is where we'll head. He's only getting better with age, so we'll push on."

"He gave me a beautiful ride. I just followed Persan everywhere. He took me, I followed and he had a great turn of foot. I just had to bide my time, wait until we straightened up to get going. He kicked clear and was too good."
Confidence in the run: "He travelled well in the run for me and the weight difference as well was a big key factor. He gave me a beautiful cart into it and this horse is in great form coming off a Yarra Glen Cup win."
Good to get a double: "It's good to get two as it had slowed up a bit in town, but I have been riding plenty of winners in the country. It's good to ride a double and hopefully it continues."
