Decision to geld worthwhile: "It has. He needed to have a long break at the end of last prep and there's no need to remain a colt and he's been gelded.
"He's not the soundest horse so the team down at the beach have done a great job to get him here in great order. I thought he got a lovely ride.
"This time of year we're keen to target the slightly lesser grade and hopefully he can do that and go through the grades. He's a winner over 1200 metres as well but the 1100 fresh was perfect for him.
"Delighted for Alf Gauci, he's stuck with the horse who he named. He's a big supporter of the stable and the horse is at a bit of a crossroads. We said to stick with him, geld him and give him a nice break so it has paid off."
On the ride: "Matthew is going great guns and does a lot of work for us. Really measured rider, very balanced. Uses the stick at the last moment and he's very effective at the moment. He'll continue to progress."
Winning Jockey: Matthew Cartwright
"He won great. He jumped good, we had a beautiful spot and we were following the right horse. We got a good cart through and he dug deep and won well.
"I was always confident (he would catch Pintoff) if he let down like I thought he was going to, he was going to run it down."
